The 3 Tenors: Paris 1998 and because of their very successful concert in Paris there was a big demand for it.

I was just doing some research on 43things.com a website where people share some of the goals they have. Amung those goals some people wrote Writing a Song, seeing this reminded me that I haven't written any posts on this Music Blog for a long while.

'I thought that I 'automatically' would frequently
write CD Reviews on this Blog, only in practice,
apparently I hardly ever write posts on this Blog.
I guess that I still am not really used to actually
buy CD's myself in a Music Store, since I was used
to get pre-releases, demos or
'for Promo use only' CD's for free'
.

So I still don't frequently actually buy CD's myself in a Music Store, although recently I actually bought a CD, that is to say it was not exactly at a price you expect to see in Music Stores, infact I didn't even buy it in a Music Store I bought it after a comedy appearance in a tiny little theatre from the artist herself straight away, with on the CD a message written by the artist. Only I won't bother you with this CD because it's a Dutch Language CD's, and on this Blog I aim to focus mainly on English Language Artists.

'So that's why I will share with you an other Artist that
an ex collegue I recently met told me about'.

Caro Emerald Won an Edison for Best Female Artist!!!

Last Sunday (October 3th 2010) I stayed up late and watched tv till late in the evening, because as you can imagine I was excited to know who else where nominated and who had won.

Laren Jazz 2010

Ten days ago I went to Laren Jazz 2010 a Jazzfestival that I enjoyed very much. We went with a small group of people first having diner in a nearby restaurant. Lucky enough the temperature was good enough to sit outside and also enjoy the sunshine while eating.

Inside theatre Singer was the first preformance from Madeline Bell & Friends

Madeline Bell has a impressive Soulfull sound, and the enthousiasic Louis van Dijk on piano made a spectacular combination. Louis van Dijk also - some years ago - played a long time with two other excellent piano players, Pim Jacobs and Pieter van Volenhoven. The last one an actual member of the Dutch Royal Family! So you can imagine that the combination Madeline Bell and Louis van Dijk and also all of the other Friends on all the other instruments all top musicians that can perform some impressive Music Magic!

The next performance was from Caro Emerald

This performance was on a Big stage in a Huge Garden Tent, in the big garden behind the theatre giving room to more people than in the theatre! This also was an excellent performance and a lot of people could sing along since a lot of people know the songs from the radio and have the CD. Caro Emarald recently has been nominated for 3 Edison Awards!, and her Album titled: 'Deleted scenes from the cuttingroom floor'

Has been on nr. 1 even longer than Michael Jackson!!!

Besides those two Highlights, I also have seen several other excellent performances that are Highlights of their own all very high quality so you can imagine that
it has been a whole evening - and even a little of the early morging - or Magical Music!

Although having actual CD's is almost already something from the past with things like downloads and MP3 players.(BTW you can find them here on this Blog or at HP's Healty Lifestyle since they are great for while your Jogging) Nevertheless I still have plenty of CD's lying arround infact I even have a few actual vinyl records! Anyhow with all those CD's a so called 'CD-Wallet' - I call it a 'Flip flop-album' - is an easy way to easily 'Flip-Flop' through your CD's (or DVD's).

Although I am not particularly a typical Rolling Stones fan myself I have been to a concert once. The record company I worked for had free tickets for me, and although the Stones where working with a different record company, at that time when they came to Europe for concerts, we did a 'Back Catelogue Campaign' selling old titles the record company still owned the rights to.

Although I might not be the biggest Rolling Stones fan they do have a lot
of great songs that are absolute floor fillers!!

O.K. maybe I am a little bit of a fan after all :)

For people that read my little 'The Vision eBook' (see The Vision eBook) they know that years ago I have worked in the Music Business as a Creative Sales Support Employee so obviously I enjoy music. Not that I really write posts that frequent, so I don't use a specific editorial calender that I use to obligate myself to write a specific amount of posts each month or something like that. Not at all, because my posts are EXCLUSIVE!!!!

Don't think that anybody can argue with that :)

Some years ago I met a Singer, family of friends of mine. She sang in an all Woman Vocal Group, and had plans for going Solo. So since I had some experience in the Music Business she told me that she had a demo and was planning to work with a producer and was asking me questions about how to start up such things, and what would be good companies to work with etc. etc.

So somewhere in 2003 and 2004 we emailed a little back and forth about it, talked about it at a local concert, also saw her perform in a small theatre,
recognising evident talent. Than some times I heared some 'bits' and 'pieces' about her career from those friends of mine. Because of family circumstances and the exhausting concequences my life in general has been a little on the back burner for the last few years!, and lately also hardly looked at the Music Charts. So I haven't even noticed that July 6th the song titled Back it Up was released. And since probably at the peak of this songs success in the summer of 2009 I was relaxing in Spain, doing a lot of cooling down, swimming in the swimmingpool or being near the beach. (see News from the Canary Islands) I didn't know anything about any exploding successes! And although I do think that I must have heard it on the radio frequently - because I totally know the songs when I hear them - I didn't know it was her voice!

I must been living under a rock lately because I didn't even know anything about it and also didn't know that with her song titled: 'A Night Like This' she even had a Nr. 1 hit in the Single Top 100!

So just recently I heared about her breakthrough successes and on YouTube I saw her apperance in a Martini Commercial with the song titled: Back it Up

Here in a local Music Store I even saw her album: Deleted Scenes from the Cutting Room Floor on Nr. 1 in the Album Charge!.

According to the weather forcast, there should be snow and just looked outside and indeed apperently it has been snowing because just moments ago I didn't see any snow at all. So if I see snow I begin to think about other places where people lie in the Sun at this very moment.

And somehow when I think about Sun the Beach or late summer evenings I think of
Smooth music from Sade on the background. Also Corine Bailey Rae (also see: ) has a similar quality of having a kind of hypnotic voice that brings you in a trance of ease and realaxation.

Just a few minutes ago I read an article and learned that Beyoncé Knowles was born in Houston Texas, and that she and her group was discovered by nowbody less than Whitney Houston. So that seems to be an original 'angle' to be writing about.

Last year I did see Whitney in an interview, and she seemed to have her twinkle in her eyes back and she smiled again. That was a big relief, because I was worried about her health being seriously in danger. I think that she is finding her balance back and even heared that there a CD on it's way. I am very curious about it.

Till that time I just like to put the attention on a CD of an other 'Houston' and althoug I don't think that her health is in danger, in fact she looks very healthy, she's only just 'Dangerously' in love.

Some years ago I wrote a "Short Story" published in the Glossy Magazine FHM. On the Cover of that particular magazine was a Big Photo Picture of MARIAH CAREY. She must have played a role in the amount of Sales of the Magazine, the Magazine that contained one of my own publications! I was kind of proud to have such a famous person as Mariah on the Cover, an extra guarantee that people would notice the Magazine at the Kiosk. So as you can See..., Technically Mariah Carey has been on my Sales Team.

Janet Jackson and Michael together in a Music Video

Yesterday on Mtv - where btw on their website you can see their logo slightly changed in honour of Michael - I saw the Videoclip Scream as far as I understand the only Videoclip where you can see Michael - and Janet Jackson together in one Music Video. This reminded me that back in the day's I worked at PolyGram we had a big Photo (probably a Gold or Platina record) from Janet Jackson hanging on the wall in the office where we had the sales staff meetings. So apperently Janet Jackson must have been onthe PolyGram Artist Roster for a while, although as I can recall at the time I worked there she already made a change to an other record company.

Well it's almost impossible not to write something about Micheal Jackson, although I don't really know what to write other than that he was a Musical Genius that I consider one of the biggest artists.

Recently I saw on Television the tv-programm titled: 'Rockschool'.

It's a tv-programm about how 'Gene Simmons' a Rockstar known from
the famous Rock band KISS that teaches young kids to make a band.
One of the newley formed bands is called 'No Comment'

That's actually what inspired me to write this post, because that is exactly what I like to tell you about this blog, that you can find all kinds of interesting COMMENTS on this blog.

Usually I also get all kinds of comments on blogposts, although sometimes - when I don't get manny comments on a post I put in comments myself by putting in famous quotes from famous people to complement my post, and make it extra interesting to read. So you can imagine that

The Origins Of Jazz Music

The essence of the sound of Jazz music is so versatile due to the origins from which it first began.

Many years ago I visited New Orleans during a vacation, there I also been to

"The Preservation Hall Jazz Band".

When I read about 'Preservation Hall' I expected a huge hall or something like that, instead it happened to be a lot smaller than expected. Although the location was small the Music was great! Also everywhere in the street you could find Music.

In fact, New Orleans, Louisiana is the place where Jazz first began between 1850 and 1900 by African slaves as well as the freed people of color. The first style of Jazz music was known as Dixieland.

In Africa from the Middle to Central to the West, one can hear the intricate rhythmic improvisation of the percussive instruments that is often heard with Jazz Music. These rhythms combined with the American Spirituals, Hymns, Blues, and the blue grass hillbilly musical sounds created a type of sound the originated in Jazz music. However, the music was just a peculiar sound without a particular title to call it fifteen years later in 1915. The great pianist Earl Hines born in 1903 played this type of music before the title Jazz became an official style of music. The word "Jazz" which was formerly spelled as "Jass" has it's origins as a type of American slang used to describe the sound of Jazz music.

It is the sound of Jazz music that began as an offspring from the origins that created this music. In the beginning of the century the instruments used in Jazz music were European percussion, brass and woodwind instruments primarily for the military marching or dance bands.

Moreover, these instruments were used in the funeral marches in the deeper party of the southern area and well as the northern. The essence of the origins of Jazz music finally became developed into it's own style with an original shape. In addition, origins of Jazz music expanded the style to the point where it cannot be defined as pure folk music even when some of its roots began there.

Once the education system included the study of music to train musicians in a formal setting it paved the way for many to learn the techniques to create music from the heart. The importance of the origins of Jazz music is to learn all about the sound that many have fell in love with. Jazz music represents freedom to create color and sound that can be interpreted best by the performers and composers who create this style of music. The origins of Jazz music has been a subject worth debating over when it comes down to labeling it a particular style. Duke Ellington himself explained it as "It's all music" due to the fact that the music has no particular structure or form it has to take.

Jazz music is not a simple style that can easily be defined except as free music that can easily meld into other styles of music to take it to another level. Jazz music itself is an innovation of African, Impressionist, Spiritual, Hymnal, Blues and Blue Grass hillbilly music simultaneously combined into a music masterpiece. The essence of the sound of Jazz music comes from the different musical elements from each part its origins as putting pieces of a puzzle together into one cohesive entity.

An other great artist that I want to talk about is Trijntje Oosterhuis, some time ago she performed at the 'Goois Jazz Festival!', there she was the 'Mystery Guest'. (Somehow I must have been enough 'Insider' to know that she would be the 'Mystery Guest' that evening.)

O.K. now about the (Getting) Inside Story..,

Because I promised to listen to somebody performing in one of the bands at the Jazz Festival, (In several areas of the building, several bands where playing at te same time) I somehow almost managed to miss the performance of Trijntje Oosterhuis!

The doors of the hall where already closed and nobody could get in anymore. Fortunately there also was a side door near the stage and maybe also because I was there with a Musician we could get in that way probably as being seen as one of the 'Music Guy's', having the best spots possible, practically on stage ourselves! At the same spot as Willem Duys, Known from Dutch Radio & TV and known for being a big fan of 'Toots Thielemans' the Musician that Trijntje performed with.

Trijntje has a special CD with Burt Bacharach Songs, in the Video here below you can find a song titled: "That's what Friends are For".

Your Ticket to Nice Music

Thinking about how strange it may appear to think of Mariah as belonging to my sales team, as you once might have read in one of the previous posts.

I have some even stranger things that I became to realise. In my time at that Big Entertainment Company I worked, I was once invited to come to a special concert of "Brian McNight" didn't went to the concert, because I worked hard, hardly had any energy left to go to all the concerts that I could go to besides at that time I didn't even know who he was!!! Just a few days later I saw him perform in an episode of the Hit TV-series "Beverly Hills 90210" And recently read in a newspaper article that he has sold over 16 Million Albums!

Than an other thing also was invited to the After Party of "Boys II Men" infact the tickets for it came out of my printer. Didn't go to that one either. The stranges thing when I some years ago bought a CD of Mariah Carey "Nr. 1's" I discovered that she had duets with both Brian McNight "When ever you Call" and on that CD there is also a song "One Sweet Day" with Boys II Men! So can you blame me to do something back and be on her Sales Team as well.

While sitting with the sun comming in through the window with my little Notebook computer writing, hitting the 'Key's' on my 'Keyboard' I saw a video clip with Alicia Keys behind the 'Key's', In the video clip I saw images of some sort of 'Clockwork' like 'Mechanics' wondering if I could make the 'Mechanics' of HP's Happy Blogspot work better by offering her CD's on this blog.

TARZAN, Great Music Great Performance!

Yesterday I went to the Musical TARZAN with Music and Lyrics by Phill Collins.
This performance was a lot different than any other theatrical production
I have ever seen,

       'With an 'openings scene' that definitely is out of the ordinary...!!'

It is Produced by the Dutch Production Company 'Joop van den Ende Theaterproducties' together with 'Disney Theatrical Productions' I went to the performance in a theatre named: 'Het FORTIS Circustheater' here in the Netherlands(Europe).

In this theatre they have tremendious special facilities because in this performance of Tarzan they have the actors flying arround even above the crowds sitting in the audiance!

The story probably is familiar, it's about a youngh English family that has been shipwrecked and gets lost in the Jungle. The parents don't survive the merciless Jungle, leaving their newborn baby allone in the Jungle. Although not entirely allone because he gets 'resqued' by Kala a female gorrilla that takes care of him. This way he survives and gets brought up by gorrillas.

While constantly looking for his true identity, he is faced with a Dilemma when he has to choose between his gorrilla family where he was brought or accompany Jane and build upa life among people of his own kind?

             'A wonderful theatrical performance by actors Chantal Janzen (Jane)
             and originally Ron Link* (Tarzan), and the rest of the cast where all
             unbelievably proffesional and it must have been a challenge to
             also learn to be acrobats!'

* (Last Minute Information: due to a little accident having
a broken toe, the 'understudy' John Vooys replaced Ron Link during his recovery.)

The decors and Light & Sound effects also where very impressive. For example there was a white cloth hanging from the top all the way down to lying on stage with moving lighteffects, giving it the illusion of a waterfall going over into a spring. It all looked somewhat magical.

And also it goes without saying that the Music and Lyrics by Phill Collins are great and will bring back the memory to this wonderful performance every time I hear one of the songs from it on the radio.

O.k. I admit it's a matter of putting it..,

Some years ago I wrote a "Short Story" published in the Glossy Magazine FHM. (see Writing Success) On the Cover of that particular magazine was a Big Photo Picture of MARIAH CAREY. She must have played a role in the amount of Sales of the Magazine, the Magazine that contained one of my own publications! I was kind of proud to have such a famous person as Mariah on the Cover, an extra guarantee that people would notice the Magazine at the Kiosk. So as you can See..., Technically Mariah Carey has been on my Sales Team!
